Resurfacing of Courts

We're delighted to confirm the club are investing in the resurfacing of all three of our courts. Work is planned to be undertaken during September 2020. We anticipate the disruption will last for up to three weeks where no play will be allowed. The new courts will be installed with Tiger Turf Advantage Pro, a synthetic surface suitable for play through most of the year.

This has been partly funded through the tennis section, existing members and also a generous loan from The Beach Tennis Club, Abbeywood supporting tennis in our region.

We hope members will benefit from this investment for many years to come.

Doubles Play

Following changes to government and LTA guidelines the courts can now be booked for doubles play.

As before all matches must be booked, and all names recorded, so we comply with the guidelines and can facilitate track and trace if required. Please remember to cancel any unwanted bookings so others can use them.

Individual balls are no longer a necessity but all parties must agree and strict hand hygiene should be observed.

All other rules still apply but we will continue to review them as required.

Opening of the Courts

With the easing of lockdown rules the Tennis Section have permission from the Victoria Club Executive to reopen the courts in line with other clubs in the area and with rules and restrictions applied in line with government and LTA advice. The club has also insisted on some local conditions.

The courts will be open for play from 9.00am Thursday 14th May but all games must be organised through the booking system and comply with the following rules.

Singles only to be played (except in case of parents and children from same household)

Maximum of 2 courts (1 & 3) to be used at any one time. Net will be removed from Court 2

Individual players to provide own marked balls

Booking system must be used

Playing sessions to be maximum of 1 hour and initially 1 per day per person

Players must only use the tennis courts, arrive and leave promptly, and not access any other areas of the club 

2 metre rule must be adhered to at all times (eg. change ends on opposite sides of court)

No parking on Victoria Avenue. Please use bottom car park

No toilets available

No visitors allowed.

There will be CCTV coverage and if rules are not adhered to courts may have to be closed again.

Please make every effort to keep to these rules and keep safe.

The rules will be reviewed on a regular basis and updated as required.

The booking system link will be available from 12 noon on Wednesday and if anyone has problems please ring or text Oliver 07939511536.

If anyone has a problem getting balls there are some available from Oliver for a £4 donation to the club.

If you have not yet paid your Tennis Club Subscription for this year please pay the normal Fee as on the Renewal Form as soon as possible, and any reduction  required will be deducted from your Fee for next year.

Reminder of the AGM

The Tennis Club AGM will be held at the Victoria Cub, back room behind the Hall, on Monday 14th January 2019 starting at 7.30pm. All Members are invited. Please attend if at all possible.

League Presentation Day

The league presentation day will be held at Congleton Tennis club on Sunday 09 September 2018 starting at 10am.

There will be two tournaments held on the day, open mixed and mixed veterans followed by refreshments and hospitality courtesy of Congleton Tennis Club. All members of our club are welcome and encouraged to attend.

Tournament starts at 10am, players to arrive at 9.30/9.45pm please to allow time to register. Presentation will be held afterwards approximately 12.30pm

Tennis Club AGM

 The Tennis Club Annual General Meeting will be held on Monday 14th January 2019, in the back room behind the Hall of the Victoria Club, starting at 7.30pm. All Members are invited. Please come along if at all possible. 

American Tournament - Sunday 16th September

Our next American Tournament is to be held on Sunday 16th September starting at 1.30 pm (until about 4.00 pm). All Senior Members, and Junior Members over 14 years of age, are invited to attend. Please come early so that we can sort out the pairings. This is a good opportunity for any new Members to come along and get to know the others..

Court lights

We're delighted to confirm the lights to courts 1 and 2 are now fully functional. Cards can be purchased from the bar area in the club and the meters are located in the tennis changing room/w.c. The current rate in £4.00 for every hour, cards can be purchased in multiples of 30 minutes. Please remember lights will automatically switch off at 9.45pm. 

We hope this new facility will give greater access for all our members throughout the winter and summer months.

Victoria Club Summer Fair

The annual summer fair will be held on Sunday 08th July 2018. Courts will be closed during the fair, usually between 12 noon and 5pm. The tennis section are hoping to have a stall or game to raise awareness of the club as well as try to earn a few pounds for maintenance etc. If you have any time to offer to assist on the day and/or prizes to donate please contact Oliver or email holmeschapeltennis@gmail.com.

American Tournament

We're pleased to confirm the club will be holding an American Tournament on 13th May 2018 commencing at 1.30pm. Please arrive early so pairings can be arranged in time. The Tournaments held last year were very popular, and well attended. This year we are again inviting Junior Members over 14 years of age to attend the Tournament, and play with the Senior Members, should they so wish.

The Tennis Club A.G.M. will be held on Monday 15th January 2018 in the back room behind the Hall at the Victoria Club starting at 8.00pm. All Members are invited. Please come along if at all possible. 

Court lighting

We're delighted to confirm that work on installing lighting to two of our courts in due to commence in the months of January and/or February 2018. This is a great addition for our club and further details on use will be announced in due course..
